I hate Megawati , nothing personal, i just hate her. I’m talking about THE MEGAWATI, the former president of Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia. Not long ago she declared that she is willing to go compete for presidency in 2009 election, with PDI-P (Partai Demokrasi Indonesa-Perjuangan. I don’t know how to say it in english.. because Indonesia Democratic Party-Struggle sounds weird) as her vehicle.PDIP is one of the largest party here, in Indonesia.
I think, it is a stupid decision by the party, to pick him as the candidate. Because, i don’t recall something extraordinary happened when she was in charge. Well, i wasn’t into political thingy back then, when she was the president (nor am now). But i don’t recall something extraordinary or breakthrough happened when she was in charge. Except for calming down the political climate, because she became president after Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) got impeached by the parliament.
Gus Dur was considered too controversial and  had a very-very bad relationship with the parliament. Once of his statement that angered the parliament was he saying that the parliament was like a bunch of kindergarteners. It was controversial back then, but appeared to be true in later years. They really are like  a bunch of kindergarteners. Some of his supporter saying that Gus Dur is some kind of clairvoyant, some kind of far seer. I don’t buy it.. i think he is just one wise old man with a problem to keep his mouth shut.
So when this old man got impeached, Megawati became president, because she was the vice president. After she become president, nothing extraordinary happened. Nothing controversial..  because she was, unlike his predecessor, always keeping her mouth shut. Silent, very untalkative to the press. So she was also known as the silent president.
But, oddly, when the audience are her supporters (PDIP), she spoke very out loud. So i got this impression that she wasn’t a president for Indonesia, but a president for PDIP. I got this impression, that she didn’t care about any group outside her party. I know that PDIP had the largest supporters, but for she was a president for Indonesia.. not for her own party! That behaviour seems to continue until this day. I don’t recall her talking in an event outside her party and i don’t recall her attending our Independece Day ceremony where the former president usually invited (i could be wrong).
She is like …holding a grudge all this year, because she feel betrayed by her former subordinate, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) -who is now our president. So it is pretty scary to imagine that the main reason she goes after the presidency is only for settling a score against SBY. So childish, and i don’t want my next president to be such a person.
So, fellow Indonesians who happen to read this. Please don’t vote Megawati for president. It just stupid.
She had her chance, and she didn’t do well. That’s why we elected SBY, right? I’m not saying that SBY term is great, but what a fool we are if we reelected Megawati. We are not going anywhere! Same old same old!
We need something new, someone new. Not a former president with grudge who speaks only for his/her supporters.
No i’m not against female president, but Megawati is not the kind of female president that i will be proud of.

Well, but we have a couple of years until the election. Let’s hope and pray there will be much-much more great, fresh candidates. Not just old politicians. It is proven.. they all suck!!
